Standing outside of Staples office supply on Merrimon Avenue, Coalition of Asheville Neighborhoods President Chris Pelly was succinct: "All CAN is asking for is consistent enforcement of the [Unified Development Ordinance]. Our appeals today challenge the culture of enforcement." |

published March 28, 2006 6:00 am ASHEVILLE — A city board on Monday unanimously turned down three appeals challenging zoning decisions by the city Planning Department, ruling in one case that the appeal was moot and in two others that appellants did not have proper standing. |

Staples asks CAN to drop appeal |

 Staples asked Heather to drop the CAN-sponsored appeal to the Board of Adjustment on a non-specific promise to do “something”. If not dropped, Staples threatened to postpone an end of February meeting in Asheville, postpone fixing the building, and divert funds to other projects.
